Body-Cam Laws in New Mexico

New Mexico does not have a statewide body-cam mandate, but Albuquerque PD's extensive body-cam program was established as part of its federal consent decree (DOJ settlement). Las Cruces PD, Santa Fe PD, and New Mexico State Police also have body-cam programs.

Discovery Rules & Video Evidence

New Mexico criminal discovery is governed by NMRA Rule 5-501. New Mexico provides for broad discovery, and prosecutors must disclose all evidence material to the defense, including body-cam footage and other recordings.

How Saul Helps New Mexico Attorneys

Saul processes body-cam footage, deposition video, and other evidence recordings in minutes — producing speaker-labeled transcripts and AI-detected key legal moments. For New Mexico attorneys dealing with growing video evidence volumes, this means:

  • Review hours of footage in minutes instead of days
  • Search entire transcripts for specific words, phrases, or testimony
  • AI-detected key moments: ID requests, escalations, use of force, arrests
  • Speaker diarization identifies who said what throughout the recording
  • All evidence processed on U.S. infrastructure with AES-256 encryption

Saul is a technology platform used by members of the State Bar of New Mexico and other legal professionals across New Mexico. Saul is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
